QuickBooks on the Web

Posted on April 5th, 2007 in Business, Digital, Workflow, General by Rebel Fish

For those of you running your businesses yourself, you may quickly get tired of keeping everything up to snuff via Quick Books. Rebel Fish has recently switched to using QuickBooks Online. You can find out more about it here.

The major benefits: multiple users can log in and modify data; your accountant can have an account that allows them to get all the information they need at any time (for quarterly estimates, etc.); you can still print checks, invoices, etc.; no yearly upgrade required to get the latest features; very nice automatic daily downloading of transactions for credit cards and checking accounts.

The drawbacks: Windows only (Rebel Fish logs in via Parallels on her Mac); not every feature you’re used to from the desktop version is there; monthly fee ($19.99 - $39.99, depending on features activated).

As a web application, it’s pretty responsive and very easy to use. It’s lovely being able to access your client data anywhere, anytime. You can print invoices, checks, etc. no matter where you happen to be.

UPDATE: If you have a CPA that has an account with QuickBooks Online, you can get a 30% discount for your account! Rebel Fish is many happy!
